AI prompt engineering reflection
Using AI to generate these resumes took some a few tries. For the marketing resume, I used Chat-GPT and uploaded my original resume. I told the AI to create a version of the resume that targets the marketing industry, and to re-design it with different colors and putting the sections in blocks. The AI did a great job writing towards the target audience, but the design was awful. I had to excrement with asking for specific qualities I wanted it to use until I made a design that looked great, which is the one I used.
The second version is targeted towards the music industry and wanted to make the design very interesting. I tried 5 different prompts into Chat-GPT asking for different things like creativity, colors, and format; but it was not generating what I wanted. On the first try using Microsoft Copilot, it generated the design you see above, but it is marketing me as a musician, not as a prospective employee. After 2 prompts explaining what I wanted the resume to say. It looked good, except for a typing error in the about me section which it refused to fix.
Doing this showed how easy and powerful AI can be, but also how frustrating and difficult it can be.
